Chelsea are discussing a deal for Christopher Nkunku with RB Leipzig. Recent reports suggested that the player had already completed a medical for the transfer.

And now, the two clubs are discussing the structure of the deal and are trying to find a solution soon. The other option is for the Premier League club to activate his release clause worth €60 million in 2023. The team wanted to keep it discreet, but it has now come out to the public.

The RB Leipzig striker recently signed a new contract with the club to end speculation over a transfer in 2022. The new deal inserted a release clause, but it would only become valid in 2023.

Chelsea and Leipzig want to get the deal done quickly; they don’t want to have speculation over the player’s future throughout the season. However, the Blues are going to try and have a negotiation with the German club over the structure and fee of the deal.

The medical assessment doesn’t mean that the deal is done yet. However, it does mean that the move will go through once an agreement is in place between the two clubs. Chelsea will also have to agree personal terms with the player in order to get the deal over the line.
