Christian Eriksen uncertain about future with Brentford beyond 2022

Christian Eriksen will meet with Brentford officials at the end of the season to discuss his future at the club. The Danish international has enjoyed a good return to club football after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch. But, he only signed a six month contract with the Bees in January.

His former club, Tottenham Hotspur, are not interested in the player just yet. They will wait until the end of the season to decide whether they will re-sign their former player or not. Ideally, Eriksen would want to captain Denmark to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. And for that, he will have to play regular club football.

Christian Eriksen’s future not decided yet

Tottenham could consider signing the Denmark international once he meets with his current club. He doesn’t have an option to extend his contract with Brentford in his current deal. But, could yet renew if his demands are met.

Ideally, the 30-year-old would want to play European football at the club level next year. But, Brentford will not be able to give him that. As a result, if Champions League or Europa League football is what Christian Eriksen wants, then he will have to join another club in the Premier League or abroad.

Since being released from Inter Milan, the midfielder has worked hard to keep himself in top shape. And he has shown everyone that he can still compete at the top level despite having a defibrillator installed. So, his future might lie at a top club next season if he wants to leave Brentford.
