Christian Eriksen was recently deemed surplus to requirements by Inter Milan, and the board confirmed that the player would be sold during the January transfer window, which is only a few days away.

The Dane has only made 8 appearances in Serie A this season, with four of those coming off the bench. His fate in other competitions, namely, the Champions League, has not been any better. Antonio Conte clearly does not favour the attacking midfielder in his lineups.

All that said, the player has the most caps for club and country in all of Europe this season, but does not even make it to the top 1000 of the players with the most minutes under their belt.

Hence, it is only logical that the board chooses to cash in on the 28-year-old, who is in his peak physical years as a footballer. Having only joined the club a year ago, Eriksen is contractually bound to play for Inter for the next three years at the very least, but that does not seem to be the way forward.

Arsenal have been linked with Christian Eriksen for a while now, which is understandable based on their need for a creative midfielder to create more chances and get the goals that they so desperately need to turn things around.

However, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on the “Here We Go” podcast on Patreon, Arsenal are not making a move for the former Spurs player. It is true that Eriksen has been offered to Arsenal, but there is no pursuit from the club’s end.

Papu Gomez is on the verge of leaving Atalanta, owing to the fallout between the Atalanta captain and manager Gasperini. His profile matches what Arsenal need, and it could be a very wise decision from the Gunners to pursue the Argentinian, given his experience and leadership qualities.

However, there has been no contact between the two parties as of yet.
