Newcastle United are growing confident over signing Christian Eriksen in the summer. The midfielder is out of contract with Brentford at the end of the season, and is yet to renew his deal with the Bees.

He joined fellow countryman Thomas Frank at Brentford during the January transfer window. And, has helped the team win in each of the four matches he has started for the club. He scored his first goal for the side in their 4-1 demolition of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

According to Northern Echo, Newcastle are confident of making the Denmark international their marquee signing of the summer transfer window. Since he doesn’t have a contract for next season yet, he would be able to join the Magpies as a free agent.

However, Thomas Frank has suggested that any decision surrounding his future will be made at the end of the season. The Brentford head coach is certain that Christian Eriksen is focused on the task at hand with Brentford and will only make his decision surrounding his future at the end of the current season.

Ideally, the former Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan midfielder would like to play the FIFA World Cup with his country at Qatar. And for that to happen, he needs to play regular club football. Staying on with Brentford would guarantee that, while Newcastle United could also present a lucrative opportunity to him.
