Chennaiyin FC 2-1 Odisha FC: 3 key talking points as second half stunner seals the win

Chennaiyin FC defeated Odisha FC in the ISL by a 2-1 scoreline to take all three points. Here are the key talking points from the game that you need to know about.

Two losses on the spin for Odisha FC

After their 4-0 defeat against Jamshedpur FC, Odisha have been defeated once more in the ISL. As a result, they have fallen down to fifth place in the table with nine points from six games.

They will need to pick themselves up and get back to winning ways if they want to finish in the top four. The competition for the spots is only getting tighter every matchday.

Chennaiyin impress once more

Chennaiyin FC have had a steady start to the season, and are now starting to hit the ground running. They have the best defensive record in the division, with only four goals conceded from six games

A good defense is vital to a good finish at the end of the season, and they are headed in the right direction to ensure a playoff spot.

Screamers on both ends

If you missed the game, you need to take a look at the goals scored by Mirlan Murzaev and Javi Hernandez. Both goals can end up being contenders for Goal of the Season when the campaign ends.

The two second-half strikes were from well outside the box, and were absolutely eye-catching. While Murzaev’s strike helped seal the win for Chennaiyin FC, Hernandez’s late stunner could not salvage a point for Odisha as time ran out.
