Chennaiyin FC defeated NorthEast United 2-1 to win all three points, coming back from a goal down in the first half. Here are the three talking points from match 68 in the ISL.
CFC Comeback kings
After Ralte gave NorthEast United the lead in the first half, Chennaiyin FC had to grow back into the game. And they did just that in the second half. First, Ariel Borysiuk’s effort ended up in the back of the net following a deflection. And then, Vladimir Koman netted an outstanding free-kick to give his side the lead.
With their win against NorthEast, the South Indian club are now in third place in the table.
Nervous end for Chennaiyin FC
The bottom-placed team did not sit back and let the match pass by. After going down, they put up a very strong fight against their opponents until the final minute to try and salvage a point.
However, Debjit Majumder was solid in the second half to keep the Highlanders out and take all three points at the final whistle.
NorthEast United remain bottom of the table
Khalid Jamil isn’t having the best time in charge of the Highlanders, with the club currently at the bottom of the table. While they have the ability to create chances, they lacked the final finish in the game to bury the ball into the back of the net.
Ultimately, it was a game that could’ve ended very differently had we seen a little more clinical finishing in front of goal from NorthEast United.
