Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri is set to leave the club this summer, amidst the lack of playing time that the Italian has had to endure with the arrival of Ben Chilwell and the resurgence of Marcos Alonso as part of the wing-back role employed by Thomas Tuchel since arriving at Stamford Bridge.
The player is still featuring for Italy, but has only managed to make 6 appearances for Chelsea this season. The only goal the left-back scored was the second goal in Chelsea’s second leg victory over Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
The Brazilian-born left-back joined the Blues from Roma in January of 2018 for a fee worth €20 million, and his contract is set to expire next season. This will be the perfect opportunity for the Premier League club to cash in on him and for the 26-year-old to better apply his trade elsewhere. A return to Serie A could surely be on the cards for him.
Keeping to the topic of Serie A and Chelsea, it was recently confirmed that Tiemoue Bakayoko is to go back to Chelsea at the end of the ongoing campaign and that Napoli have not negotiated anything with respect to making the deal permanent.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea in the summer of 2017 for a whopping €40 million from Monaco, but has failed to live up to both the price tag and the performances that he once displayed at Monaco. The Stamford Bridge outfit will have to make a decision on either selling him or loaning him out again since his contract with them expires in 2022 as well.
