Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly’s Blues will have a busy summer transfer window ahead of them, with a mass clearout expected. Mauricio Pochettino has been named the new manager, and will have a big task of narrowing down the squad to players that he believes will fit his system.
Many players are set to leave in the coming weeks, but Chelsea are also in the market to sign a new striker, a new goalkeeper and a new defensive midfielder. Here is the latest Chelsea transfer news to keep you updated ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Chelsea transfer news: N’Golo Kante leaves for Al Ittihad
The French midfielder has agreed a massive €100 million deal with Saudi Arabia club Al Ittihad. He follows Karim Benzema, who also joined as a free agent recently.
Kante was in talks with the board to renew his contract, but the mega-money offer has persuaded him to sign for the Saudi club amidst speculation over his future. The Frenchman has joined on a four-year deal until 2027, marking the end of an era.

Chelsea transfer news: Arsenal officially sign Kai Havertz
Arsenal have officially announced the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea for a £65 million fee. The player has accepted a five-year contract proposal made by Arsenal, and was instrumental in making the transfer happen. The guaranteed transfer fee is worth £60 million, while £5 million will be available in the form of add-ons.
Chelsea FC transfer news: Manchester United sign Mason Mount
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Chelsea for a £55 million plus £5 million deal for the signing of Mason Mount. The player has agreed a five-year contract with the Red Devils, and will complete a medical in the coming days to finalise the move.
Mount was considered a priority target this summer for United and had a high chance of leaving. The Cobham academy graduate only had one year left on his current contract with Chelsea, with no intention to renew his contract. United being able to offer him Champions League football was one of the catalysts in helping him make the move.

Chelsea striker update: Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson signs until 2031
Chelsea have agreed a deal with Villarreal to sign Nicolas Jackson as their new striker. The Blues will pay €1-2 million extra over the €35 million release clause to avail a favourable payment plan in installments. The player has agreed an eight-year contract, like the other new signings under the BlueCo ownership.
Jackson has been in fine form for the latter half of the season, causing the Blues to take notice of his form. He has scored nine goals in his last eight games, and it now remains to be seen how he performs in the Premier League.
Chelsea FC transfer news: Cesar Azpilicueta joins Atletico Madrid
Cesar Azpilicueta will be moving on from Chelsea and joining Atletico Madrid, after reaching a full agreement over a two-year contract. The player will be returning to Spain after spending an incredible decade in London.
Inter Milan had also agreed a two-year contract with Azpilicueta, but the player’s family has preferred a move back to his native country. The defender renewed his deal with the club last summer until 2024, and has always been respectful with the club. As a result, Chelsea will terminate his deal a year early and let him go for free as a show of respect for his decision.
Chelsea FC transfer news: Hakim Ziyech to join Al Nassr
Al Nassr have agreed a deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea, having already agreed terms with the player and the club. The Moroccan is expected to officially leave the club in the coming week alongside N’Golo Kante and potentially, Kalidou Koulibaly. Romelu Lukaku transfer update: Inter to hold talks soon
After their loss in the 2022/23 Champions League final, Inter Milan’s season is officially over. And now, they will discuss the future of Romelu Lukaku, with the player currently on loan with the Nerazzurri.
They have no intention of accepting a loan deal with Lukaku again at Inter temporarily. Chelsea want to offload the striker permanently as he has no future at London. A transfer fee worth €40 million has been suggested by the Premier League club, which could be difficult to match.
Chelsea transfer news: Moises Caicedo a priority; Colwill record bid rejected
Chelsea have made direct contact with Brighton to sign Moises Caicedo, with negotiations now in full swing.
The Blues are expected to negotiate the £80 million price tag set by Brighton, but are confident of getting the deal over the line. Caicedo is set to leave as promised by the Seagulls in February, with personal terms not an issue for a move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have also turned down a club record £40 million bid from Brighton for Levi Colwill, who spent the 22/23 season on loan with the Seagulls. He is expected to remain at Chelsea next season and be an important part of the first team under Pochettino.
Chelsea transfer news: Mateo Kovacic signs for Manchester City
Mateo Kovacic has officially signed for Manchester City, with a deal worth £30 million agreed between the two clubs. The player has agreed a four-year contract until 2027 with the Sky Blues, and will be wearing the number 8 shirt at his new club which previously belonged to Ilkay Gundogan.

Chelsea FC transfer news: New goalkeepers on the club’s radar
With the futures of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga up in the air ahead of the new season, Chelsea are looking at a new number 1 for Mauricio Pochettino. AC Milan’s Mike Maignan has been linked with a move, but Chelsea’s initial approaches have been turned down.
Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier has also been rumoured as a possible option. The player has said that he is open to leaving, but would want to be the number one if he does. Chelsea have not made an approach for him yet, but are monitoring the situation as things stand.
Chelsea transfer news: Plenty of expected departures
After N’Golo Kante, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is certain to leave the club this summer with Saudi Arabia being one of the options for him as well. Other players like Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy are all expected to make way before the start of the new season.
In the case of Mendy, several French clubs are keen on bringing the former Rennes player back to France. The expectation is that he will be leaving Chelsea this summer, and offers will be considered for him.
