Chelsea have completed the signing of Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, and have announced his arrival on their social media accounts. The centre-back has signed for the Blues for a fee worth €37 million, and has agreed a massive seven-and-a-half year deal until June 2030.
The 21-year-old was the alternative to RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, who earned a great reputation during the 2022 World Cup. The move for the Croatian was deemed too expensive, and the West London have signed Badiashile instead.
Benoit Badiashile officially joins Chelsea
“I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea. I’m so excited to start playing for this club,” Badiashile said in a statement on the club’s official website. “I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world.”
“We’re delighted to welcome Benoit to Chelsea,” Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said in a joint statement.
“He’s an excellent young player who has quickly established a strong reputation for himself and has a huge amount of experience for his young age. We are sure he will form an important part of our team in the years ahead.”
Benoit Badiashile joins Christopher Nkunku, Andrey Santos and David Datro Fofana as the three signings that Chelsea have made recently. Since he is still very young, fans will be expecting him to stay at the club for a very long time especially considering the length of his contract.
