Chelsea are reportedly willing to sign Eden Hazard from Real Madrid, and help him return to the club where he played his best football. The Champions League winners have reportedly opened talks with Florentino Perez regarding a move, and Hazard would be open to such a transfer personally.
The Belgian winger made the move to Real Madrid after winning the Europa League with Chelsea in 2019. Real Madrid paid over €100 million for the player, but he has been unable to live up to the price tag during his time at his ‘dream club’. Injuries have been the major point of struggle for him, and he has missed more games than he has played after being signed by the Spanish club.
After a difficult two years in La Liga, Chelsea are now looking to have their own club legend return after Manchester United re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. While they were paid in excess of €100 million, the Blues will not be offering any more than €40 million for their former player.
If Real Madrid want to cut their losses and successfully replace the player, then it is an offer that could make sense. However, the final decision will be made by Florentino Perez when the transfer window is open for business.
Hazard has always been loved by the Chelsea fanbase, and has hinted at a return to Stamford Bridge several times. With Roman Abramovich willing to fund his return, it might be a chance to salvage his club career by returning to London.
