Chelsea are planning to sign Kyle Walker-Peters as an alternative to Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan. The Southampton defender has been discussed internally as a potential option as backup for Reece James.

Inter are anticipating a high asking price for Dumfries, which is causing problems for Chelsea to sign the Dutchman permanently. So, they might turn their attention to Kyle Walker-Peters if it proves to be a more suitable option for them.

The Blues are in talks with Brighton to sign Marc Cucurella, and have submitted a £50 million bid for the Spaniard to reinforce the left wing-back position. They have intentions to do the same in order to take some of the burden off of James on the other flank.

However, Chelsea are considering several other options and haven’t finalised their target to play right wing-back. The arrival of a new player in this position would allow Cesar Azpilicueta to leave, while Cucurella’s arrival would make it easier for Marcos Alonso to move on as well.

The two players are in talks with Barcelona over a potential transfer this summer. Personal terms are not an issue, and only a transfer fee remains to be agreed upon.

Once the fee is finalised and the replacements are brought in, the two players are likely to move back to Spain.
