Chelsea make shocking Harry Maguire inquiry to Manchester United

Harry Maguire to leave Manchester United with £40 million loss expected

Chelsea have made a serious inquiry into the prospect of signing Harry Maguire from Manchester United. The England international has come under serious criticism for his errors as part of the Red Devils. Although he has been named the captain of the club, he is at risk of losing his place in the line-up.

Manchester United were interested in signing Christian Pulisic earlier in the window, with a loan deal rumoured. The Blues had a discussion with United, and the topic of swapping the two players was also given some consideration, according to Sportsmail.

The centre-back’s lack of pace has been exposed at Manchester United, with their playing style not suiting Maguire’s game at all. He has also been guilty of some very poor errors over the last few seasons, and is to blame for United’s embarrassing start to the season as well.

But, there is a chance he could be accommodated into Thomas Tuchel’s 3-at-the-back system. It also allows Thiago Silva to flourish despite not having a lot of pace. And there is a chance Harry Maguire could find his footing again with a move.

United fans have protested for Maguire to be benched. And given his recent form, it will be very difficult for United to recoup any of the money they spent on him. A swap deal with Pulisic going the other way could be an effective solution for them as a result.
