Chelsea don’t seem to be done with the transfer market just yet. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are considering a late move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
The player was linked with a swap deal with Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona earlier in the window. But the move ultimately fell through, and he ended up remaining at the Wanda Metropolitano. However, he is willing to leave and has attracted interest from Manchester United alongside the Blues.
United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged Ole Gunnar Solskjær to sign the Atletico man, saying he would be perfect for them, but the club are yet to register anything substantial. Chelsea are also interested in the player, but are not prioritising his transfer as of yet. A proper decision will be made regarding his pursuit in the upcoming days.
Chelsea’s willingness to wait might see them get a cut-price deal for the player. Atletico Madrid have signed a replacement for him in Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese, and are prepared if Chelsea manage to sign him by the end of the transfer window.
The Blues are also in the market for Jules Kounde, and are willing to make a last ditch effort to sign the Sevilla player. The performances from Trevoh Chalobah have somewhat hindered Chelsea’s interest in the French defender, and the current situation surrounding the move is much more uncertain.
However, if any deal has to happen, Chelsea have ten days to make it happen.
