Chelsea are in advanced negotiations with Mauricio Pochettino to become their new head coach. The Argentine has emerged as the favourite to take over the job since Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique were eliminated as potential options.
Talks have progressed fast with the former Tottenham manager, who has seemingly impressed the authorities with his plan. However, while the negotiations are in advanced stages between the two, it hasn’t been fully settled yet.
Chelsea in advanced negotiations with Mauricio Pochettino over managerial position
Pochettino isn’t the only man on the list, with Vincent Kompany appreciated by the board as well. However, the Burnley manager is unlikely to leave, given that he has only just guided the club back to the Premier League and is very highly rated by the board.
This week will be key to making the final decision, with the former PSG boss leading the race. Pochettino has reportedly laid down interesting plans for both Levi Colwill and Mykhaylo Mudryk in his project, with both players expected to develop immensely.
And if they can agree on the major details, then we will finally have a name to succeed Graham Potter from next season. The 51-year-old has had a history of developing young players, and could be the perfect match for the project that Chelsea’s new owners have on their hands.
But, it remains to be seen whether a full agreement can be reached between Mauricio Pochettino and the Chelsea board for the job.
