Chelsea confirms a whopping £53m contract with Christopher Nkunku: He celebrates with a balloon even after scoring a goal

Nkunku thrashed 46 goals out of his 119 Bundesliga appearances for Leipzig and had a successful stint in Germany. His unique celebratory style has been a lot in talks in recent times.

His trademark celebration includes pulling a balloon out of his sock and blowing it up. The question is, why does he choose to celebrate this way?

He first celebrated with a balloon after spring Leipzig’s first goal in 4-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League back in November.

Speaking about the same, the forward said that he had promised to his son.

“The balloon is for my son. He likes balloons.”

Ever since that strike against the Ukranian side, Nkunku has celebrated with the balloon on his balloon on various occasions.

The Frenchman pulled out his extraordinary celebration on his concluding game with the club, scoring Leipzig’s first goal against Eintracht Frankfurt as Marco Rose’s side won the DFB Cup final 2-0.

When will he have his Chelsea debut?

Nkunku could have his first game with Chelsea against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking about this move, he said,

“I’m incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club, and I’m looking for meat, my new coach and teammates, and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.”

He added that after Bundesliga and Ligue1, he’s thrilled to be a part of the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. He is excited and stated that he’ll be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.
