Stumbling to another away defeat at the hands of Leicester City, the pressure has only mounted further on the shoulders of Frank Lampard, whose team are currently 8th in the Premier League.
Speaking on the situation, and possible future of the Chelsea legend as a manager at the club, here is what Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio said on the Here We Go podcast:
“Chelsea board is not so happy with Lampard. They were considering that Lampard must be given time with the new players and time is needed. They respected his position, but the board is really disappointed in the manager after the poor performances. Anything could happen in the coming hours.”
No further communication has taken place between the powers that be at Chelsea and Frank Lampard as of yet, but history proves that poor management is not tolerated long in the Roman era.
Thomas Tuchel is being linked heavily with the job, and the German-speaking manager has been tipped as a possible successor to Lampard due to his past stints with Dortmund and PSG, especially due to his potential to possibly integrate Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Antonio Rudiger better into the squad. Moreover, the reunion between Thiago Silva and Tuchel could also prove to be beneficial.
The face as the head of the Chelsea dugout could change any time, as has been proven many times in the past. It’s all up to Roman Abramovich to decide whether to stick with the Blues legend and give him time or to pull the trigger right now.
