Chelsea are the Champions League 2021 Winners!

Chelsea have won the 2021 Champions League by beating Manchester City in the finals at Porto. The only goal of the game was scored by Kai Havertz in the first half, as he dribbled past Ederson to knock the ball into an empty net. Mason Mount was pivotal in setting up the goal, as he claimed the assist by sending Havertz on his run.

The game was an unbelievably intense affair from start to finish. Chelsea brought out their ruthless intensity from the starting whistle and it lasted throughout the first half. The London outfit had multiple chances to get ahead earlier. However, Timo Werner could not convert any of the ones presented to him.

With both teams playing a very high line, long balls were staples throughout the opening half. They proved to be more beneficial for Chelsea as they created the better chances. Although Manchester City got in behind the backline time and time again, heroic performances from Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen locked the City attackers out.

The second half saw Chelsea sitting deep and defending in their own half. Once Fernandinho was substituted on, City gained a lot of character and composure. They also looked more threatening while creating chances. Although Kyle Walker’s diagonal passes managed to cut through, there was a lack of a person to finish.

Chelsea should’ve won by a bigger margin, had they taken all their chances. However, they are now the champions of Europe for the second time in their history and nothing matters more than that.
