# Chelsea appoint Laurence Stewart as new technical director; Leipzig’s Vivell next

[Chelsea](https://technosports.co.in/2022/10/26/could-cristiano-ronaldo-join-chelsea/) have officially confirmed the appointment of Laurence Stewart as their new technical director. The Premier League club announced the decision in an official statement on their website.

“Laurence Stewart will be joining Chelsea in a new position as technical director to focus on football globally.

“Stewart will join Chelsea when he completes his commitments to AS Monaco where he is currently technical director, having moved to the Ligue 1 club in June 2020. The technical director is a position that hasn’t existed before at Stamford Bridge. However, with Todd Boehly planning for a multi-club model like the City and Red Bull group of clubs, the position of a technical director will help in operations across the globe. 

Alongside Stewart, the Blues are also planning to appoint RB Leipzig’s Christopher Vivell as a new technical director. Talks are in the final stage between the two parties, and should be completed very soon. 

Chelsea have also reached an agreement with Southampton’s Joe Shields to take up a role at the club. He will be moving to the West London side soon, once the formalities and the potential gardening leave period have been sorted out.
