Chelsea are set to renew the contract of Reece James for six more years, until 2028. The right-back is one of the lowest earning players in the squad right now. And the new contract will make him one of the best-paid players in the team.
The board is also looking at including the option for another year in his contract. Talks are progressing quite fast, since the player is very keen on extending his stay at Stamford Bridge. He graduated through the Cobham academy, and is one of the best full-backs in the world right now.
Reece James to renew contract with Chelsea soon
With his previous contract running down, and his pay not really matching his contributions on the pitch, there were rumours that he would join Real Madrid this summer. But, there was no contact with the Spanish giants, and he was never close to a transfer.
Chelsea recently extended the contract of Armando Broja until 2028, after several rumours indicating that he would leave this summer. The Albanian is expected to be a big part of the future, alongside Reece James.
Chelsea are also looking to renew Mason Mount’s contract once they can finalise an agreement with James. And in the coming months, they are also looking to recruit a new head of scouting and a new director of football to replace the old board.
