Arsenal handed Chelsea another home defeat with a 4-2 outing in the London derby. With the three points they earned, the Gunners are right back in the race for the top four. On the other hand, Chelsea had a very disappointing game where Thomas Tuchel decided to rotate the squad.
Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz were rested while Malang Sarr, Romelu Lukaku and Ruben Loftus-Cheek started the game. On the other hand, Eddie Nketiah started the game for the Gunners and scored a brace to help his team to a big win away from home.
Chelsea suffer big home defeat to Arsenal
Andreas Christensen gifted Nketiah the opening goal after a wayward pass back to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Timo Werner was able to equalise shortly after, with his deflected shot ending up in the back of the net, keeping his run of form going.
Emile Smith Rowe dribbled past a horde of Chelsea defenders to score and put his side ahead again. But, Cesar Azpilicueta’s tap-in finish made sure that the two teams went back into the tunnel on level terms.
A scramble between N’Golo Kante and Malang Sarr gifted the ball to Nketiah once again, who scored from close range to restore Arsenal’s lead. And in the dying minutes of the game, Azpilicueta gave away a soft penalty by taking down Bukayo Saka in the area, which he converted to make it 4-2.
The fourth spot is up for grabs once again, with Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United battling it out for Champions League football next season.
