Netflix has dropped the trailer of the second season of the Emmy winning docuseries Cheer. It has been seen that the previous season has got a huge response from the audience. In the first season, the series features star Jerry Harris who has been arrested for multiple felony charges based on sexual misconduct revolving around the minors.
According to Netflix, the second season will focus on the charges against Harris. It is definitely a significant blow of Netflix’s Cheer given that Jerry had become one of the most favourite stars of the series. In the trailer, the coach Monica Aldama has been saying, “ I cannot even like, process it right now,”
The producer and the executive director Greg Whitley says, “ I am a huge believer in the power of stories and telling them honestly” He also says, “I believe the story is going to ultimately be the best version of itself while you start to honor what is true, and you are not returning from it. This season covers events as they unfolded, beginning in January 2020 through April 2021, following Navarro College on their journeys to the national championship. The latest episode also tackles extremely difficult moments, including the impact of COVID-19 and criminal charges against one of Navarro’s former team members.
It was inspiring, heartbreaking, sometimes frustrating, and ultimately moving to be a part of their lives. Flying home from our last day of shooting in Daytona, I thought, ‘ I cannot believe we saw what we just saw, we experienced what we just experienced.’ If we do our job right, we are able to take the audience on that same ride.”
According to the official logline, “ As season 2 opens and the buzz around their newfound stardom threatens to alter the dynamic of Navarro Cheer, the team ends no amount of press frenzy could compare to the challenges they must face when COVID-19 upends the 2020 cheer season and also a serious criminal accusation is levied at one of their teammates.”
