If the words *costume wrestling* and *three misfit brothers* in a single Malayalam film don’t instantly grab your attention, nothing will. **Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies** had all the ingredients for a cult entertainer — but does it stick the landing? Let’s find out

## What’s the Film About?

Chatha Pacha follows three brothers who once ran a wrestling clan in their hometown. Years later, the trio and their friends decide to revive the spirit by launching a wrestling club — one built around colourful **costume fighting inspired by WWE**. What unfolds is a chaotic, energetic ride where old rivalries resurface, loyalties are tested, and the ring becomes both a battleground and a stage. Think part action, part comedy, part survival story — wrapped in a nostalgic bow.

## The Good, The Bad & The Verdict

**What Works:** If you’re a wrestling fan, this film is practically tailor-made for you. The WWE-style sequences are genuinely exhilarating, and the humour lands more often than it misses. **Arjun Ashokan** carries the film on his shoulders with conviction, while **Vishak Nair** is an absolute scene-stealer as the antagonist — commanding, intense, and memorable. Roshan Mathew adds warmth to the ensemble. The music from the legendary [Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shankar%E2%80%93Ehsaan%E2%80%93Loy) trio elevates several key moments, and Mujeeb Majeed’s background score keeps the energy alive throughout.

**What Doesn’t:** Here’s the honest truth — the screenplay stumbles. The dramatic portions feel half-baked, and the emotional stakes never quite hit the way they should. A cameo by Mammootty, while well-intentioned, feels awkwardly shoehorned in. The OTT version reportedly fixes some of the dubbing issues from the theatrical cut, which is a small relief.

**Verdict:** Chatha Pacha is a fun, wild, nostalgic ride that wrestling fans and Malayalam action-comedy lovers will enjoy. But beneath the flashy costume fights and crowd-pleasing moments lies a story that needed more heart and sharper writing to be truly great.
