Atletico Madrid had an impressive night as well, coming back from going 1-0 down early in the game to win. Antoine Griezmann scored the first and assisted the second goal for Jose Gimenez, proving once again that he is Atletico’s talisman.
Barcelona’s defeat with ten men wasn’t the ideal start to their Champions League campaign. Eric Garcia was sent off early in the game, and two quickfire goals ensured that the teams remained level at half time.
However, Monaco were able to surge ahead through George Ilenikhena, and held on to the lead to claim three important points.
