The first semifinal for the Champions League 23/24 season has been confirmed, with PSG and Borussia Dortmund set to face each other. Dortmund came back from 2-1 down in the first leg against Atletico Madrid to win 5-4 in front of their Yellow Wall. On the other hand, PSG won 4-1 against Barcelona, who had ten men.

Here are the results from both the quarter final matches.

Champions League 23/24 Quarter Final Leg 2 Results

Borussia Dortmund 4-2 Atletico Madrid

Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen produced similar strikes from the left wing to give Dortmund a 2-0 lead in the first half. Mats Hummels, however, scored an own goal to give the visitors a lifeline in the tie.

Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa both had a great 1v1 chance each to score, but their efforts went wide. Correa was able to score later on, with an incredible finish from a rebounded shot. But, goals from Niclas Fullkrug and Marcel Sabitzer ensured that the home team progressed.

Atletico have no one to blame but themselves for the loss, with several missed chances in front of goal. Perhaps Jan Oblak could have done better to save the goals too, as it wasn’t the usual top-tier performance from him as we are used to seeing.

Barcelona 1-4 PSG

Raphinha opened the scoring in the second leg to continue his streak from last time out, but Barcelona’s lead was short lived. Ronald Araujo was sent off for a rather soft last man challenge on Bradley Barcola, reducing the home team to ten men.

Shortly after, Ousmane Dembele scored against his former club again to make it 1-0 for the visitors. Vitinha followed his French teammate, before Kylian Mbappe scored from the penalty spot. The striker added another one late in the game to see the Spanish side off 6-4.

Xavi Hernandez was sent off for his aggression against the referee during the match, and was also furious in the post match press conference. His time with Barcelona now ends with no major silverware in the final season.
