Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are set to meet each other in the Champions League semifinals. While Bayern Munich picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Arsenal in the second leg of their quarter finals, Madrid defeated Manchester City on penalties to go through.

Here are the results from both the quarter final second leg fixtures.

Champions League Quarter Final Leg 2 Results

Manchester City 1-1 Real Madrid (3-4 pens)

Madrid produced a remarkable defensive performance in the second half to keep themselves alive in the tie. Antonio Rudiger scored the winning penalty after a tense 120 minutes to send his team through to another semifinal, and set up the possibility of a 15th Champions League title.

Rodrygo scored on the rebound in the 12th minute to give his side the lead, and after trying incredibly hard in the second half, Kevin De Bruyne managed to equalise after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

The Belgian took several shots on goal, with the total shots racking up to 30. And in spite of his prolific finishing record, he wasn’t able to score again.

Bayern Munich 1-0 Arsenal

Joshua Kimmich turned into the hero for Bayern Munich, assisted by Raphael Guerreiro. The German scored the only goal of the game to send his team into the semifinals, with a tense clash against Real Madrid lined up ahead.

The game started slow, with barely any opportunities in the first half. The second half, however, saw Bayern pick up the pace. Goretzka and Guerreiro struck the post within seconds, before Kimmich pounced on a great delivery from his teammate.

The Gunners barely created any opportunities in the game, and have now crashed out of the Champions League in the quarter finals stages.
