Chamak Sony LIV: Musical Thriller Release Date & Details

In an exciting announcement, Sony LIV has introduced its upcoming musical thriller series, ‘Chamak,’ slated for release on December 7. The show, conceived and directed by Rohit Jugraj Chauhan, renowned for his work on Punjabi hits like the ‘Sardaarji’ series and the Bollywood film ‘Arjun Patiala,’ promises an immersive exploration of the hidden facets of the Punjab music industry.

Creator-director Rohit Jugraj Chauhan, in a press release, expressed his excitement about ‘Chamak’ and its foray into the intriguing underbelly of the Punjab music scene. The series is set to stream exclusively on Sony LIV, providing viewers with a front-row seat to the riveting drama that unfolds in the world of music.

Rohit Jugraj Chauhan has directed and produced ‘Chamak’ alongside Geetanjali Mehelwa Chauhan and Sumeet Dubey.

Plot

The plot centres around Kaala, portrayed by Paramvir Singh Cheema, a dynamic young rapper returning to his roots in Punjab from Canada. Kaala becomes entangled in the mysterious demise of Taara Singh, a legendary singer shot dead during a live performance, setting the stage for an exhilarating narrative.

As Kaala delves into the circumstances surrounding Taara Singh’s tragic death, the official plotline promises relentless action, navigating through the complex web of Punjab’s music industry, encompassing politics, business rivalries, familial histories, and potential honour killings.

Cast

The star-studded ensemble cast of ‘Chamak’ includes Manoj Pahwa, Gippy Garewal, Mohit Malik, Isha Talwar, Mukesh Chhabra, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder (Vicky) Pal, and Akasa Singh, adding depth and talent to the narrative.

In a thought-provoking statement, Chauhan highlighted the core theme of the series, emphasizing that no artist should meet an untimely demise, regardless of the circumstances. Drawing a poignant connection between music, art, and love, he warned against the dangerous amalgamation of art and violence, which could perpetuate a cycle of bloodshed through generations.

‘Chamak’ transcends the glitz and glamour, aiming to uncover the shadows lurking behind the stage lights. Chauhan shared that the creation of ‘Chamak’ was a spiritual and cathartic journey, and he aspires to offer the same emotional experience to the audience.

Chamak Sound Track

The series is set to feature an evocative soundtrack, with songs by acclaimed artists including Gippy Grewal, Mika Singh, Malkit Singh, MC Square, Afsana Khan, Asees Kaur, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kanwar Grewal, Shashwat Singh, and Harjot Kaur.

As anticipation builds for the December 7 release, ‘Chamak’ promises to deliver an immersive experience that transports them into Kaala’s world, where the quest for family and justice intertwines with the power of music, inviting audiences to witness the untold stories within the captivating arena of the Punjab music industry.

Since speculations are coming that Sidhu Moose Wala inspires the series ‘Chamak,’ we are making it clear that it is evident that Moose Wala’s killing does not inspire the story but his death had a huge impact on the project. MC Square was recently also seen wearing a T-shirt with a print of Sidhu Moose Waala to give a message of “No Artist Should Be Killed.”

‘Chamak’ is concerned about the killing of artists in Punjab due to jealousy as Punjab become the epicentre of high-paid singers they don’t have accommodation in Punjab and live in other countries trapped themselves in the contact of gangwars and business rivalries.
