CES 2021: Lenovo unveils ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, its Thinnest ThinkPad ever

Lenovo’s main attraction at the all-digital CES 2021 is the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga, one of its four additions to the ThinkPad X1 lineup this year. Lenovo claims that the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga weighs just 2.5 pounds (1.2 kg) and is its thinnest ThinkPad ever at just over 11mm (0.4 inches).

The new ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga reimagines the classic executive notebook. It comes only in a light Titanium color scheme, doing away with the black finishes of the other previous ThinkPad flagships and X1 Carbon.

It’s a Yoga Laptop, so it has a 360-degree rotating hinge that can make you transform it into an easel, a tent, or a tablet. For some of the ThinkPads, it has been a standard fair for a while. The X1 Yoga Titanium’s screen, a 13.5-inch touch-enabled display with a 450-nit backlight and a 3:2 aspect ratio, is what makes it unique apart from being much thinner and lighter than the X1 Yoga and the X1 Carbon. Its aspect ratio makes it taller and narrower than the 16:9 widescreen orientation on most current ThinkPads.

What’s lightweight, extremely flexible, & always connected?

At just over 2.5lbs, the new ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga keeps you connected with 5G capabilities and comes with an audio system you'll want to brag about.

Cutting-Edge Enterprise Features

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga has many cutting-edge business-friendly features like a webcam that includes both IR sensors for face recognition logins via Windows Hello and a reassuring shutter for privacy. These components necessitate a bit of extra space between the top of the screen and the edge of the laptop.

The IT staffers will appreciate many of the features of this laptop,  including the option for brand-new 11th Generation Core processors with vPro remote management and security features. According to PC Mag, “the addition of vPro processors is often key to adoption by Fortune 500 companies and other large corporations who deploy and manage large laptop fleets. Intel says the new 11th Generation Core processors with vPro offer 20% better performance overall than the 10th Generation ones they replace.”

Despite all the business-friendly features the X1 Titanium Yoga does have, the chief absentee is a full-size HDMI port for physical connections to conference-room and lecture-hall A/V systems (The chassis is far too thin for such a large port). Two USB Type-C ports, a SIM card slot for the optional 5G/LTE modem, and a headphone jack are the only physical connections the X1 Titanium offers are. Your best option could be to easily order a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter or cable.

The ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is expected to be available to order later this month starting at $1,899.
