The announcement arrived Tuesday, September 1, 2026, confirming that Cote de Pablo will reprise her iconic role as Ziva David in the long-running procedural. The outlet reported the update, which settles the question that has hovered over the franchise since Michael Weatherly’s Tony Dinozzo Jr. comeback was reportedly first revealed. ![](https://technosports.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/CBS-2.jpg) ## CBS Officially Seals Ziva’s Return — What Changed? The confirmation is now official, with de Pablo attached to return as Ziva David for the upcoming season. **CBS has locked in the actress’s homecoming, making Ziva a central part of the Season 24 narrative.** The update pairs neatly with the earlier announcement that Weatherly would reportedly reprise Tony Dinozzo Jr. after the 2025-2026 cycle. That double return matters because the two characters defined NCIS’s golden era. Their chemistry, reportedly built alongside Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs, carried some of the show’s most memorable arcs. Even reportedly a decade after their respective exits, fans still rank them among the franchise’s most beloved figures. ## Why Did the Ziva Return Question Linger for So Long? The uncertainty stretched for months because CBS never explicitly addressed Ziva’s status after Tony’s return was announced. Fans reportedly saw the pair reunite on-screen in the reportedly Paramount+ spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which reignited hopes for a flagship comeback. Yet the network stayed quiet, leaving room for doubt about whether de Pablo would follow Weatherly back to the mothership. That silence fueled speculation. Some argued the spinoff’s success made a Season 24 return unnecessary, while others insisted the franchise would capitalize on the momentum. **The September 1 confirmation removes all ambiguity, giving fans a definitive answer rather than another round of guessing.** ## How Does This Connect to the Tony & Ziva Spinoff? The reportedly Paramount+ series brought Weatherly and de Pablo back together in a fresh format, and that project appears to have paved the way for this return. The spinoff demonstrated that the duo still draws an audience, which likely strengthened the case for a flagship appearance. Rather than treating the two shows as separate worlds, CBS now seems to be weaving them into one continuous story. That integration is smart business. The spinoff built goodwill among fans who missed the classic dynamic, and Season 24 can now harvest that enthusiasm. **Expect the flagship series to reference or build on the spinoff’s events, creating a shared narrative thread across both platforms.** It also gives CBS flexibility: if the pairing thrives on the main show, the franchise can keep expanding around them. **[Verdict]** Ziva’s return is confirmed, not rumored — and it positions the Tony-Ziva pairing as the franchise’s biggest draw in years. ## What Can Fans Expect From Ziva’s Storyline in Season 24? The outlet’s report did not detail specific plot points, so the exact shape of Ziva’s arc remains under wraps. What is clear is that her return will not be a cameo. The casting update positions her as a significant presence, and the timing suggests the writers have planned a substantial role rather than a brief guest spot. The natural hook is the Tony-Ziva dynamic. Their history, their daughter, and the unresolved threads from their shared past give the writers plenty of material. **Season 24 has a chance to deliver the emotional payoff fans have wanted since the pair left the show.** Whether that means a full-season arc or a major multi-episode storyline, the confirmation guarantees Ziva David will matter again. ## officially Seals Ziva: The Bottom Line on Ziva’s NCIS Return CBS [officially](https://technosports.co.in/officially-redesigns-hbo-hogwarts/) seals Ziva’s return as a major strategic move for the franchise.
