  • Spotify eyes to make its podcast service more profitable

Spotify eyes to make its podcast service more profitable

Spotify will soon be launching a subscription podcast service that will offer users access to original shows or exclusive episodes for a monthly fee. A recent survey conducted by the sources concludes that at least four subscription podcast plans were famous among users.

The projects ranged from $3 to $8 per month. The cheapest of the projects will include “access to exclusive interviews and episodes” but will come with ads. On the other hand, the most expensive plan will consist of access to “high-quality original content” and early access to some episodes. The subscription will not insert ads for users.

A spokesperson stated, “At Spotify, we routinely conduct several surveys to improve our user experience. Some of those end up paving the path for our broader user experience, and others serve only as important learnings. We have no further news to share on plans at this time.”

Sources claim that there’s no guarantee, Spotify will follow through with launching any of the described services. Podcasts offer a lucrative opportunity for the Swedish media streaming firm. The company doesn’t have to pay licensing fees to stream the podcasts. And it can still make money on subscriptions and app-inserted ads during their playtime.

As such, the company has been making significant investments in podcasting over the past two years. It even acquired several major podcast producers, including Gimlet, Parcast, and The Ringer. The firm even signed exclusive podcast deals with Michelle Obama, Kim Kardashian West, and Joe Rogan.

As to whether Spotify can make money based on podcasts alone remains to be seen. But the effort and investment that the company is putting behind its podcast feature make the future of its podcasts service something to keep an eye on.

Apple HomePod mini launched at $99

The iOS 14.2 update brings new AirPlay controls that allow users to stream content throughout their homes. Another useful update is that the iOS version 14.2 offers an option that provides stats about exposure notifications to health authorities without identifying the user.

The company has fixed several bugs relating to Home Screen dock issues, camera viewfinder, the lock screen keyboard, photos widget. • Nvidia’s Advanced Optimus finally ready for OEM implementation

Nvidia’s Advanced Optimus finally ready for OEM implementation

Nvidia announced its Advanced Optimus was announced at the CES 2020 earlier this year. The new Optimus will come with the bonus of simultaneous G-Sync support. However, the laptops with regular Optimus will have to forego the G-Sync or rely on inconvenient system reboots to switch between the two features.

As usual, it’s the OEM’s who are making a delay in adapting to the latest tech. They are late in integrating Advanced Optimus onto consumer-ready laptops. However, Eluktronics is claiming to be the first to implement Nvidia’s new technology with the 15.6-inch Mech-15 G3 and Max-15 Ultra.

Will Kiryluk, Eluktronics CEO stated, “My hope is this will eventually wake up some sleeping giants to inspire them to bring more and exciting solutions to their customer base as well. Whether consumers are choosing our brand or another, my intention is and always has been to change this game, literally.

The Eluktronics laptops will be powered by the Core i7-10870H instead of the Core i7-10875H. The device will come with GeForce RTX 2070 Supergraphics and a BOE 144 Hz 1080p display and Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal paste. As mention, the notebook will be using Nvidia’s latest Optimus technology.

The new Nvidia Optimus feature requires certified panels with additional hardware switches and ICs. Naturally, the laptops’ price will be a bit high due to the availability of Advanced Optimus. We have seen tech companies launching new technologies. But the OEM’s often delay in adapting to this new tech.

We already know the delay behind PCIe 5th gen implementations. As such, at least one OEM announcing the integration of advanced Optimus is good news.

  • Intel’s next-line of CPUs leaked online

Intel’s next-line of CPUs leaked online

A new rumor has been making rounds on the internet that states Intel has at least three lineups planned for launch after its 11th Gen Rocket Lake. It includes the 12th Gen Alder Lake, 13th Gen Meteor Lake, and the 14th Gen Lunar Lake processors.

    Alder Lake

The Intel Alder Lake family is officially confirmed to be the 12th Generation Core family and will be launched in the second quarter of 2020, approved by Intel. However, according to sources, Alder Lake will be launching by 2022. The processor will reportedly offer around 5 GHz boost clocks and will also be outfitted with 32 Gen 12 Execution Units, which equals 256 cores. The GPU will have improved performance over the existing Gen 12 based Xe GPUs.

The lineup is expected to be configured in the following configurations:

    • 8/16 + 8 (Core i9)
    • 8/16 + 4 (Core i7)
    • 6/12 + 4 (Core i5)
    • 6/12 + 0 (Core i3 / Pentium)

The Alder Lake CPUs will be the first desktop processor family to feature a 10nm process node. The CPUs will come with standard high-performance ‘Cove’ cores and smaller yet efficient ‘Atom’ cores.

Intel has released the following update regarding its 2021 architecture lineup:

    Intel Golden Cove (Core) Architecture:

    • Improve Single-Threaded Performance (IPC)
    • Improve Artificial Intelligence (AI) Performance
    • Improve Network/5G Performance
    • Enhanced Security Features

    Intel Gracemont (Atom) Architecture:

    • Improve Single-Threaded Performance (IPC)
    • Improve Frequency (Clock Speeds)
    • Improve Vector Performance

    Meteor Lake

The Intel Meteor Lake will be based on a new line of Cove core architecture. It is rumored to be the ‘Redwood Cove’ and will supposedly be based on a 7nm EUV process node. According to sources, the Meteor Lake CPUs will be the first CPU generation from Intel to ditch the ring bus interconnect architecture. The CPU will also feature a fully 3D-Stacked design and utilize an I/O die sourced from an external fab.

The CPU will feature support on the LGA 1700 socket, which is the same socket used by Alder Lake processors. It will have DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5.0 support. The NVMe support is expected to be limited to PCIe Gen 4 rather than PCIe Gen 5, which the platform will support, which is rather disappointing.

    Lunar Lake

The Intel Lunar Lake family is expected to launch around 2023-2024. It will most likely replace the Meteor Lake lineup and will be Intel’s 14th Gen series. The Lunar Lake will come with Gen 12.9 graphics. On the other hand, the Alder Lake Desktop CPUs are listed with 12.2 & Meteor Lake with 12.722 Generations.
