When *Train to Busan* legend Gong Yoo teams with *Record of Youth* star Seo Hyun Jin, expectations skyrocket. The **cast of The Trunk** delivered exactly that—a romantic thriller exploring contractual marriage through Netflix’s November 2024 release. Directed by Kim Kyu Tae and adapted from the acclaimed novel, this K-drama challenges traditional relationship narratives through stellar performances and unexpected chemistry.

## Cast of The Trunk: Lead Stars

| Actor | Character | Notable Works | Role Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |

| **Kim Dong Won** | Supporting Role | Multiple productions | Character details undisclosed |

## Gong Yoo: The Reluctant Romantic

The **cast of The Trunk** centers on Gong Yoo’s Han Jeong Won—a music producer whose cynicism about marriage runs deep. His belief that “all marriages are deceit” creates fascinating tension when forced into a contractual arrangement. Netflix subscribers globally recognized Gong Yoo as the mysterious salesman who recruited Seong Gi Hoon in [*Squid Game*](https://www.netflix.com/title/81040344), while his starring role in *The Silent Sea* showcased his sci-fi versatility.

Outside Netflix, Gong Yoo achieved icon status through *Train to Busan’s* zombie apocalypse heroics and *Goblin’s* supernatural romance. His ability to oscillate between blockbuster action and intimate character studies makes him the perfect anchor for *The Trunk’s* emotional complexity. ## Seo Hyun Jin: The Marriage Architect

Equally crucial to the **cast of The Trunk**, Seo Hyun Jin portrays Noh In Ji—head of NM, a fixed-term marriage service agency matching clients with dream spouses. The irony? She personally rejects marriage despite orchestrating others’ romantic futures. This contradiction fuels the series’ central conflict.

Seo Hyun Jin’s Netflix credentials include *Record of Youth* opposite Park Bo Gum and *You Are My Spring*, where she balanced vulnerability with strength. Her non-Netflix work—particularly *Oh Hae Young Again* and *Here Comes Mr. Oh*—established her as K-drama royalty capable of carrying emotionally demanding narratives. ## The Trunk’s Unique Premise

What separates **The Trunk** from generic romance K-dramas? Its contractual marriage concept through NM agency—where clients experience curated relationships with predetermined expiration dates. This setup forces the **cast of The Trunk** to navigate emotional authenticity within artificial constraints.

Han Jeong Won and Noh In Ji’s collision—a marriage-hating producer meets a marriage-arranging executive who won’t marry—creates dramatic irony ripe for exploration. The mysterious trunk referenced in the title becomes a narrative device driving suspense alongside romance.

## The Trunk’s Cultural Impact

Beyond the **cast of The Trunk**, the series tackles contemporary Korean society’s evolving marriage views. Fixed-term contracts reflect younger generations questioning traditional relationship structures—making this K-drama’s premise culturally resonant beyond entertainment value.
