Carney Chukwuemeka is attracting interest from Bundesliga clubs for a move away from Aston Villa this summer. The youngster has concerns over his lack of playing time, and is considering a move away if the situation does not improve any time soon.
During the initial part of the season when Dean Smith was in charge of the Midlands club, Chukwuemeka was given several opportunities to showcase himself on the pitch. He made his first Premier League start against Brentford, and played for over an hour last August.
Carney Chukwuemeka seeking move away this summer
Since the arrival of Steven Gerrard at the club, playing time for Carney Chukwuemeka in the first team has diminished. With John McGinn and fellow academy graduate Jacob Ramsey preferred in midfield, it will be difficult for the youngster to get chances to start matches.
The 18-year-old has a contract with the club until 2023, and would be able to walk out as a free agent in case he is not sold in the summer. Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in him as a replacement and back-up for Jude Bellingham, who plays a similar central midfield role. However, there are other sides from Germany interested in bringing him over as well.
As an academy graduate, he could yet consider staying by signing a new contract since he could earn more playing time as he gets older. But, an opportunity abroad would be tempting for the England youth international as well.
