Carlos Tevez has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 38. The striker has not played since leaving his boyhood club Boca Juniors in June 2021, and has now made his decision to not continue playing anymore.
His decision to retire was driven by the death of his father, who was his number one fan. Segundo Tevez died in February 2021 at the age of 58 due to COVID-19. He has revealed that he will be undergoing training to become a manager in the coming months, and will step into coaching full-time once he is ready.
