Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out any winter shopping for the club. During the summer, Los Blancos were extensively connected with a bid for Kylian Mbappe, but instead signed youthful talent Eduardo Camavinga.
About Carlo Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti is the manager of Real Madrid in La Liga. He is an Italian professional football manager and former player. He is widely recognized as one of history’s best and most successful managers.
Ancelotti is one of only three managers in UEFA Champions League history to win the competition three times, and one of only two to guide teams to four finals. He has managed Milan and Real Madrid to two FIFA Club World Cup victories. Ancelotti is one of only seven people who have won both the European Cup and the Champions League as a player and a manager.
His Issues
The whispers about Mbappe joining Real Madrid continue, but it appears that Los Blancos will try to gain a free transfer. That would necessitate reaching an agreement on a pre-contract arrangement between January 1 and the summer, but Ancelotti is not interested in shopping for players in the short term.
If Real Madrid beats Athletic Club on Wednesday night, they will go seven points clear at the top of La Liga, and Ancelotti doesn’t see the need in changing a winning recipe.
“In general, you have to work in the summer to improve the squad,” he said in his latest press conference, as streamed on YouTube.
“In January, I don’t like to alter the squad too much, I don’t think we need to improve it.”
Real Madrid is likely to keep their hopes high for Mbappe, while Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has been mentioned as a possible target, again on a free transfer and ahead of the summer.
