Capcom Showcase is confirmed: Here’s what to expect this year

Capcom Showcase is Official and as we all know, it’s almost Summer Game Fest time, and now that E3 has been cancelled, this event will serve as the focal point for summer video game announcements. On June 8, Geoff Keighley will host his opening ceremony livestream, followed by a variety of smaller showcases such as Double Fine’s Day of the Devs and the Devolver Direct.

Then, on Sunday, the major guns come out with the Xbox Showcase, followed by the Ubisoft Forward presentation the next day. And now, just days before the event, Capcom announces that it will be participating.

The Capcom showcase is presently scheduled for Monday, June 12, 2023, at 6 pm ET, and is the final conference on the Summer Game Fest schedule. While fans shouldn’t get too excited, Capcom has promised just over 30 minutes of thrilling new disclosures, which might include everything from brand-new game announcements to gameplay videos to updates on games that have already been released. And, while nothing formal has been announced, a couple of games are expected to appear at the next Capcom Showcase.

Capcom confirmed the showcase would be 36 minutes long during the event’s official announcement. While this is more than enough time for a few revelations, it does imply that Capcom will not be revealing too much. Summer Game Fest’s opening broadcast is scheduled to last approximately two hours, as is Xbox’s showcase on June 11. Even Ubisoft’s presentation on Monday, which will take place only a few hours before Capcom’s, is scheduled to run about an hour.

With that time constraint in mind, it becomes more likely that Capcom Showcase will have more emphasis on games that are already available and games that are just over the road, such as Exoprimal. Exoprimal, a four-player co-op dinosaur shooter, will be released in less than a month, on July 14.

Capcom has extensively promoted Exoprimal in the last year or two, displaying it at nearly every showcase event possible, from Capcom’s live streams to Sony’s State of Plays. It seems to reason that Capcom would want to promote Exoprimal again, particularly during its event, so fans should expect to see another gameplay teaser there.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is another possible candidate for inclusion in the Capcom Showcase. Resident Evil 4 Remake appears to have succeeded very well both critically and commercially, and it would make sense for Capcom to build on that success with a DLC.

When the game originally came out, many fans and critics were quick to call out the absence of the original Resident Evil 4’s Separate Ways side mission, and speculation quickly spread that Capcom planned to release it as a separate paid DLC a few months later. Even if the Separate Ways content does not wind up as DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake, Capcom is likely to say something.
