Callum Hudson-Odoi expected to leave Chelsea on loan for 2022/23

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi could leave Chelsea in the coming weeks to get more playing time. The winger has been a fringe player under Thomas Tuchel, and is unsatisfied with his current situation under the German manager.

Southampton are pushing to sign the skilled winger, while Leicester City are also interested in signing him. The player’s progress has been hindered by injuries and the fact that Tuchel’s system does not use any natural wingers like him. But, he could find success at another Premier League club once he makes a move.

The youngster only played 966 minutes in the Premier League last season. And his battles with fitness have not made it any easier for him to be integrated into the team either. So, regular game time at another club might help him achieve his previous levels before the injury.

Borussia Dortmund have also been rumored as a potential destination for Chelsea, but no contact has been made as of yet. The Blues look unlikely to let go of the player permanently, considering he is only 21 and is still developing.

They have agreed on several departures, after signing four new players this summer. Romelu Lukaku has left on loan to Inter, Levi Colwill has joined Brighton while Timo Werner is set to rejoin RB Leipzig, and now, Callum Hudson-Odoi will join the list of outgoings for the Blues this summer.
