Since the release of Modern Warfare 2 about two months ago, one of the most common requests from multiplayer aficionados has been for a Ranked mode. While no such addition to the famous first-person shooter is currently planned, it appears that Infinity Ward is planning on adding the feature shortly.
According to a new Insider Gaming article, Modern Warfare 2 appears to be laying the framework for a Ranked mode. A Ranked mode is set to arrive in MW2 around the beginning of 2023, according to datamined from @codsploitz imgs on Twitter. While the proof of this addition to the game has now been DMCA’d on social media, the source of this report claims to have seen the information associated with the new mode.
What Ranked will add to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the ability to enjoy multiplayer outside of the game’s current SBMM structure. Ranked rankings will be divided into tiers known as “Skill Divisions.”
Players will be able to earn SR points, which will allow them to move up or down in the ranks. SR points will be awarded based on an individual’s performance in a game, whether the match is won or lost, and the potential margin of victory. Ranked will also have a 4v4 option that will let players to play across all maps in Modern Warfare 2.
Because Activision and Infinity Ward have not officially stated that Ranked mode will be added to MW2, it is unclear when this feature will be available. However, it appears that more material will be released in an official capacity after the holidays.
