## Call of Duty Story: War on the Korean Peninsula

War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fights to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away, a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows, staying one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control. The story spans locations around the world, including New York, Paris, Mumbai, and war-torn Korea, featuring close-quarters combat, high-speed chases, and SAS raids. It’s a bold new setting — and one that feels genuinely urgent.

## What’s New in Multiplayer?

Multiplayer delivers grounded, precise combat built around fluid movement. It introduces *Ballistic Authority*, a new weapons-first innovation that brings the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet. MW4 will launch with 12 Core maps spanning visually distinct locations around the world, plus *Kill Block* — a dynamic battleground that reconfigures its layout between rounds across more than 500 configurations.

That’s a staggering level of replayability right from day one.

### DMZ Is Back

DMZ returns as the definitive Call of Duty extraction experience, dropping solo players and squads into a shifting combat zone where every deployment plays out differently. Fans of the mode who felt its original run was cut short will finally get the full version they were promised.

## One Important Note for Old-Gen Players

MW4 will NOT be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The launch of Modern Warfare 4 also marks a major live-service shift — Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One will shut down completely when Season 1 begins. Beginning June 4, the game will be permanently removed from digital stores for old consoles.

According to [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty:_Modern_Warfare_4_(2026_video_game)), MW4 is the twenty-third installment in the Call of Duty series and the fourth entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series.
