Call of Duty: Moder Warfare 3 finally gets a release date

Call of Duty has officially revealed the title of 2023’s entry as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, as well as the release date of November. This is the first time two games from the same Call of Duty subseries have been released back-to-back, as Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, was released in 2022. The double dip is apparently due to Modern Warfare 3 starting production as DLC for last year’s Modern Warfare 2 to tide fans over until Treyarch’s next Call of Duty release in 2024. However, it is said to have evolved into a complete release, Modern Warfare 3.

A photo of Modern Warfare 3’s new logo and what appeared to be the cover art featuring franchise icon Captain Price leaked on a Monster Energy package just weeks after Call of Duty confirmed a full game release date of 2023 and that all of Modern Warfare 2’s weapons, operators, and bundles will carry over into the new game. Shortly after, Call of Duty stated that its 2023 game will be teased and presented during Modern Warfare 2’s Season 5 and then mocked the Monster Energy leak by recreating the Captain Price cover art as a stupid stick figure.

After weeks of conjecture, those who thought Modern Warfare 3 was next are now proven true. Call of Duty released a 40-second teaser video on Twitter, announcing this year’s title as Modern Warfare 3. Furthermore, Call of Duty has set November 10 as the release date for this third, and maybe final, Modern Warfare revival title.

Call of Duty appears to be building on the success of last year’s Modern Warfare 2 in preparation for the release of Modern Warfare 3.

The teaser begins with the trademark green spikes coupled with the sounds of a commercial airplane’s interior, following up where Modern Warfare 2 left off with franchise villain Makarov entering the picture. The sound of the plane’s seatbelts and the hum of its engine set the scenario, as a mobile vibrates. As the green lines begin to become crimson, the sounds of weapons being loaded begin, a refreshing visual choice for the long-running subseries.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming on November 10.
