Fans are anticipating the release of Modern Warfare 3, the upcoming game in the acclaimed Call of Duty franchise, which has been officially confirmed for this year’s November. The story of the game will seamlessly carry over from the events of “Modern Warfare 2,” in which Task Force 141, led by the legendary Captain Price, engages Vladimir Makarov, a notorious antagonist from the Modern Warfare universe, to stop his evil plots.
TheGamingRevolution, a Call of Duty content developer, is credited with starting the misconception that Modern Warfare 3 will be launching on last-gen consoles, according to an IGN report.
They first revealed that the Xbox Series X|S will be the only console capable of running MW3 in a tweet sent out on August 10 from the Microsoft shop.A few days before, PlayStation had uploaded a Modern Warfare III teaser on their YouTube page with the caption “Modern Warfare III – is Coming | PS5 & PS4 Games,” which led to some misunderstanding.
According to the IGN report, the Xbox website has been amended since that image was tweeted to state that when Call of Duty MW3 comes later this year, it will be playable on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.There isn’t much information available about MW3, although Makarov has been confirmed to be the new (and familiar) antagonist players will battle, and MW3 will be formally unveiled on August 17 during a Warzone event.
