Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 1 Roadmap Reveals New Maps, Modes, and Warzone Revamp
For the past couple of years, Treyarch has worked on Black Ops 6‘s Ranked experience, beginning shortly after the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard in late 2021, and is now slated to launch on November 21. It includes “streamlined features, innovations, and updates,” such as a new skill-based ranking system, forfeit option, map-mode voting, etc. A host of other community-requested goodies!
As with multiplayer, Warzone is another key aspect for Season 1, where the Area 99 Resurgence map will be based on what appears to be a 1950s-esque government testing site–think Nuketown. Expect the return of both Urzikstan and Rebirth Island as well as the Plunder game mode in Season 1.
Three new maps will be launched for multiplayer mode, including Hideout, Heirloom, and Extraction. But you’ll also get modes such as Ransack and Prop Hunt, as well as weapons like the Krig C assault rifle, Sirin 9mm special weapon, AMR Mod 4 sniper, and a power drill melee. Zombie fans can expect three new GobbleGums and a medieval-style map called Citadelle des Morts.
While much of this content will arrive on November 14, some features, like Warzone Ranked and new maps Hacienda and Racket, are planned for a mid-season update. Around the same time, Nuketown will receive a holiday-themed makeover, and the Directed mode will add a new layer to Zombies.
Since Black Ops 6’s late-October release, Treyarch has made consistent improvements, including weapon balancing, perk nerfs, and adjustments to the flashbang. For more insights on this year’s installment, check out our reviews of the Multiplayer and Zombies modes and tips for new players.
