Burnley have won the 2022/23 Championship, after defeating their rivals Blackburn Rovers 1-0 on their own ground. They have now extended their winning run in the heated fixture to a record six wins, and are nine games unbeaten.

Manuel Benson scored the only goal of the game, cutting inside and finding the back of the net in the 66th minute to start the celebrations for the away fans. Burnley were not at their free flowing best against Blackburn, but they managed to get the job done and win the league in the best way that fans could dream of.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are a side reborn, resorting to free flowing attacks and a fearlessness that wasn’t seen before. With two games to spare, they have already won the title with only three defeats throughout the campaign. And they will return to the Premier League at the first time of asking as champions of the second division.

Three games without a win, after the defeat against QPR, brought about a desire to win. And they managed to deliver in a manner that no one expected.

Blackburn are eighth, outside the playoff spots on goal difference. And the loss against their bitter rivals has made it a bit more challenging to return to the playoff spots right now.
