Burnley have sacked their head coach Sean Dyche after unfavourable results for the club this season. The 2-0 defeat against Norwich City was the final straw that pushed the club to make the decision.

The Clarets have been battling relegation this season, and have found it extremely hard to get winning results this year. And now, with eight games remaining in the Premier League this season, the club have made the difficult decision in a bid to help them survive the drop.

Burnley sack Sean Dyche after ten years in charge

Burnley chairman Alan Pace admitted it was an ‘incredibly difficult decision’ to sack Dyche but said results had not been good enough.

‘Firstly, we would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Sean and his staff for their achievements at the club over the last decade,’ Pace said.

‘During his time at Turf Moor, Sean has been a credit both on and off the pitch, respected by players, staff, supporters, and the wider football community.

‘However, results this season have been disappointing and, while this was an incredibly difficult decision, with eight crucial games of the campaign remaining, we feel a change is needed to give the squad the best possible chance of retaining its Premier League status.’

Dyche guided the club through two promotions, and led them back to the Premier League in 2016. He also helped them achieve their highest ever European finish, with European football coming their way on a limited budget as well. And now, the longest-serving manager in the Premier League has been relieved of his duties.
