According to a release, 28-year-old Jimin contributed to writing six of the songs on the album. The announcement from BIGHIT Music showcased a vintage aesthetic, featuring images of old-school cassette tapes for each track, all unified by the overarching theme of “love.”
The hip-hop/R&B-centric track “Who” was produced by Grammy-nominated singer/producer Jon Bellion, along with Pete Nappi, Tenroc, Pdogg, and GHSTLOOP, and is described as having an “intense bounce and guitar sound.” Additionally, the pre-release track “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band,” inspired by marching bands, combines hip-hop elements with a big band sound, featuring a large-scale orchestra. This collaboration with South Korean rapper Loco results in an energetic, lively rhythm and dynamic atmosphere.
Other contributors to the album include Tommy Brown (known for his work with Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber), alongside producers Pdogg, GHSTLOOP, and EVAN, who also collaborated on Jimin’s first solo album, 2023’s FACE, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Jimin made his official solo debut with the 2018 single “Promise.” Five years later, he became the first South Korean soloist to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Like Crazy,” followed by FACE’s “Set Me Free, Pt. 2,” which peaked at No. 30 on the chart.
Jimin is currently completing his 18-month mandatory military service in South Korea, which he started in December. His bandmate Jin recently became the first BTS member to complete his service.
