## What Does the Trailer Show?

The trailer shows Bernthal getting **set on fire** while experiencing hallucinations of voices talking to him — hinting at a deeply psychological and visceral story.

Flashback scenes show Frank’s young daughter in their family home, revisiting the tragedy that first created the Punisher. There is also a shot of Frank leaving a red flower at a grave marked for his daughter Lisa Barbara — the first looks at Frank’s family in years within this version of the story. Bernthal himself promised the special would be the most “high-octane” portrayal of the character yet, adding: “Nothing is easy and all violence has a cost, and we’re going to see that cost.” [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Punisher:_One_Last_Kill)

## Cast & MCU Connections

**Jon Bernthal** leads the special as Frank Castle, with **Jason R. Moore** returning as Curtis Hoyle, Frank’s closest friend and former U.S. Navy personnel — adding important emotional continuity to the story. [Yahoo!](https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/articles/marvel-just-released-punisher-one-224147432.html) A villain named **Ma Gnucci**, the powerful head of New York’s largest mafia family and a classic Punisher comics nemesis, is also expected to appear based on filming location clues.

The special is set concurrent with the events of *Daredevil: Born Again* Season 2 and is part of **Phase Six of the MCU**. [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Punisher:_One_Last_Kill) Bernthal is also set to appear in this summer’s *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*.
