The Brazilian will sign a contract until 2026, and will link up with the team following the international break. He had interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, but has decided to make the switch to Tyneside instead.

He was a part of the Brazil squad that won the Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this past summer, and is a defensive minded midfielder who can also [provide the goals and assists](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/newcastle-bruno-guimaraes-compare-stats-midfielders-profile-transfer/) going forward. His arrival could boost the overall balance of Eddie Howe’s team as they attempt to survive in the Premier League.

Lyon are trying to sign [Giovanni Lo Celso](https://technosports.co.in/2022/01/29/lyon-close-spurs-giovanni-lo-celso/) as a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, and they are looking at a straight loan deal until the end of the season for the Argentinian midfielder.
