Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle United: done deal
The Lyon midfielder will become Newcastle United’s third major signing of the winter transfer window, after the arrival of Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid and Chris Wood from Burnley.
The Brazilian will sign a contract until 2026, and will link up with the team following the international break. He had interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, but has decided to make the switch to Tyneside instead.
He was a part of the Brazil squad that won the Gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this past summer, and is a defensive minded midfielder who can also provide the goals and assists going forward. His arrival could boost the overall balance of Eddie Howe’s team as they attempt to survive in the Premier League.
Lyon are trying to sign Giovanni Lo Celso as a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, and they are looking at a straight loan deal until the end of the season for the Argentinian midfielder.
