Bruno Guimarães has signed a new contract with Newcastle United, after weeks of negotiations between the two parties. The new deal will tie down the Brazilian to Newcastle until 2028, after a run of brilliant performances since his arrival following the Saudi Arabia PIF takeover.
The club has also inserted a £100 million release clause into his new contract, so that they can be compensated appropriately in case he is to leave. But for the time being, he remains committed to the project under Eddie Howe that has been so successful since last season.
Bruno Guimarães signs new contract with Newcastle United
Guimarães will become the highest-paid player in Newcastle’s history following his new deal. He has barely put a foot wrong for the Magpies since his arrival in January 2022 from French club Lyon.
His contribution was vital in helping the club qualify for the Champions League this season. And having been drawn in the group of death alongside Borussia Dortmund, PSG and AC Milan, he will have to step up and help his side try and qualify for the Last 16.
Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian, as well as Alexander Isak soon, and will be sending scouts to watch them in the Champions League. But, the new contract will make it financially difficult for them to complete the deal for Bruno Guimaraes on financially favourable terms.
