Bruno Guimaraes has agreed a new contract with Newcastle United until 2028, and is set to sign the deal in the coming days. The player was one of the first signings for the Magpies after their Saudi Arabia takeover, and has become a transformative presence in the heart of the park for the club.
He was pivotal in the club’s top four finish last season, and will commit to the club for the foreseeable future. But, there is a £100 million release clause inserted into the player’s new deal, which could see him leave if a club bids for that amount in the near future.
Bruno Guimaraes to sign new contract with Newcastle United
This summer, Liverpool and Real Madrid tried to sign the Brazilian. But, both their approaches were turned down by Newcastle United. The Reds made an offer worth £100 million to sign the midfielder, but it wasn’t accepted.
But in the future, a bid worth that amount would facilitate the exit of Bruno Guimaraes provided he can agree personal terms with the club. Newcastle United signed Sandro Tonali, Lewis Hall and Harvey Barnes to bolster their squad this summer and compete in the Champions League.
They have been drawn in the group of death in the competition alongside AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and PSG. And it now remains to be seen how things turn out for Eddie Howe’s side upon their return to Europe’s top flight.
