Brighton have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign Ansu Fati on a loan deal until 2024. The youngster also had interest from Tottenham for a temporary move, but chose Brighton over them and the two clubs have swiftly reached an agreement for the transfer to go through.Â
There is no buy option included in the deal, which means the forward will return to Barcelona next summer. The Seagulls will cover the majority of Fati’s salary, with a small portion to be paid by his parent club. The Premier League club have scheduled medical tests for the player and want the deal signed as soon as possible.
Ansu Fati to sign for Brighton in straight loan dealÂ
There were doubts over the youngster’s playing time under Xavi since he has had limited opportunities so far. The long-term injuries suffered by Fati have not helped his cause either. Though he has been able to make an impact when brought off the bench in some games, he has been unable to secure a starting spot.
His initial momentum which saw him called up to the Spanish national team has been halted, and there are hopes that he could recapture it at Brighton.
Roberto de Zerbi quickly signed off on the transfer for Fati, which sees the Seagulls complete a very important transfer. They have already broken their transfer record with Joao Pedro from Brighton, and have now signed Fati to reinforce their attack.
Barcelona could now sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid since they have space on their books. But, the structure of the deal will be crucial in order to comply with FFP regulations.Â
