Brighton have announced the signing of Facundo Buonanotte from Argentine club Rosario Central. The transfer has been fully agreed, and will be concluded in the January transfer window once the formalities and the work permit have been finalised.
The youngster made his debut in February, having come up through the Rosario Central academy. He scored his first goal in July, and ended his first full season with four goals and two assists in 34 games.
Facundo Buonanotte signs for Brighton
Brighton’s technical director David Weir said: “Facundo is a player we have been aware of for some time, and we have been watching for a while.
“We are delighted we have now reached an agreement with Rosario, and we look forward to welcoming Facundo to Brighton in January next year.”
Carlos Teves, the manager of Rosario Central, has made comparisons between Facundo Buonanotte and Lionel Messi, who was born in Rosario. The 17-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder as well, further likening the similarities to the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
The youngster is expected to be a part of the future of the Seagulls. But with them giving ample opportunities to youngsters, he could be integrated into the first team in the latter half as well.
